I messed with this in the early days of Google Voice, but I’m just beginning to appreciate it. It takes a little messing with the settings to get it just right, but I think this is a slick productivity solution. Not just getting voicemail transcribed and emailed (or texted) but to use the service to record text notes for archiving or pasting into another app.
I’m working on some “sales hacker” tips for a project, while we don’t yet have any voice integration with our current (Siebel) CRM, or even a calendar integrated with the rep’s (Blackberry) handhelds… This could save time for guys who are running through their day, in and out of trucks, and don’t get a chance to log every call, or quote. It’s a little clunky, but pasting the text into the CRM from their email or right out of their GV inbox, once they get to a stopping point, will save some time and collect some of what’s getting missed. I played around with Jott.com, reqall.com and there are things I like about them, but there’s something I like about “free” better. Next is to figure out “reminders”… I’m thinking Google needs a voice driven option to bounce memos to a calendar date, with a reminder… Can I have that….Or am I missing something?
Lifehacker was on this from the beginning, but apparently I wasn’t listening.
